On my most recent visit to Berlin, I spent my last day in the city on or in the vicinity of Unter den Linden, walking about, admiring the equestrian statue of Der alte Fritz, visiting the Palais Populaire and the James Simon Galerie, and having a late lunch before taking a train to Düsseldorf. In this post I share some of the photos I took.

The above picture is of the Brandenburg Gate, taken from the Pariser Platz side. The political undertone is provided by the sticker on the trash receptacle in the foreground. It, like so many others, is based on the famous design of the album titled “Run DMC”. Here the message is aimed at the Nazi far right party Alternative für Deutschland, AfD. I imagine you can figure out for yourself the meaning of FCK.

Having taken the above picture, it occurred to me to build a series with political themes. Selected results are to be found on the other side of the paywall.
