An excising exercise
The idea for this post has been brewing since 2013, when I first conceived of having an art exhibition on the topic, involving a set of images thematically related to Figure (1), above. You may recall that immigration, illegal or otherwise, was a hot political topic then, too. I deliberately depict nonhuman, nonliving tokens to explore the idea of belonging free of irrational baggage such as prejudices. So the first question is, “Which of the above tokens doesn't belong?” Examine the picture and decide for yourself. Here are some hints.
